A long-standing critique of fantasy artwork is the seemingly passive nature of its women. However, the future wrought by Wren Nowan, women are no mere damsels awaiting distress, and firmly take matters in their own hands. His lean ladies command powerful vehicles that surge and rumble at their every whim.

With expressive watercolor washes and fine lines, Mr. Nowan creates delicate renditions of hard metal machines and the tough women who ride them. Having started with lovely blonde woman on a motorcycle, he quickly escalates his series with larger and more elaborate atmospheric and space-faring craft.

Space Opera and Cyberpunk are having a party called Motor Geek Love and only the most capable pilots are invited. Thankfully for us, they all seem to be as attractive as they are skilled and dangerous.

Lately, Mr. Nowan’s blogs appear to be viewable by invitation only. Such a pity.
