Håkan Ackegård’s Playelf Gallery
For those joyless authoritarians who grimly proclaim that nothing good has ever come of roleplaying games, consider the ebullient, mirthsome sprites of Håkan Ackegård’s Playelf Gallery. These fetching, frolicking fairies and erotic, energetic elves were undoubtedly born of endless nights of rolling dice and counting hit points.
These lithe creatures are exceptionally liberated where clothing is concerned: no task or adventure is unsuitable to bare butts and unbound bouncy breasts. Many of his sketches and finished works are set in a traditional sword and sorcery setting, but others are contemporary and futuristic glimpses of fabulous fey females.
Of Mr. Ackegård’s many artistic achievements here, perhaps his greatest is retaining a playful, almost nostalgic innocence in each of his supremely sensual visions of Elfin delight.
