There comes a time in the lives of many, when they realize world is a much more dangerous place than previously believed. This may cause some to live in fear, but this dark epiphany may also help others more fully appreciate the beauty in life, wherever it is encountered. Through the delicately damaged portraits of Lauren K. Cannon, even the most fearful souls may come to appreciate the finer side of a world more menacing than their nightmares.

With burning eyes and battle worn bodies, her creations nobly arise from stories untold in fluid poses and muted colors. These slender, sensual figures haunt dark, decaying worlds — despite the depths of their suffering — with no small measure of grace. Rather than rail against the Fates for their lot in life, these somber souls seek only a measure of peace in their otherwise tumultuous existence.

Lauren brings her characters to life in delicate detail, each offering a powerful example of which compromises must be made to survive — and perhaps thrive — in a dangerous world.
