Hoon and Mess Studios

Killer schoolgirls, sword-wielding supermodels, and mechanical maidens in disrepair are all the stuff of dark sexual fantasies — and the subjects of loving attention of a driven artist known simply as Hoon.

While these works have cartoon elements, only the cutest, most innocent pieces can be confused with mainstream anime. Nearly all are richer, darker affairs; detailed digital paintings mixed liberally with emotional depth and sinister undertones — and sexy, sexy women.

We may never know the person, but the dynamic artwork being produced by Hoon is unforgettable. Keep an eye on him and/or her. And if — by some horrible twist of fate or cruel aesthetic infirmity — you find Hoon’s work not to your liking, take solace in the shadowy cabal of talented illustrators known collectively as Mess Studios.
